The announcement by the Electoral Commission of the requirements for Candidates from the Three National Parties has been announced, with 100 days to go before the Polls.

The requirements announced by the Electoral Commission to be followed by the candidates of the three parties in accordance with the local council and representative elections law of Somaliland and the constitution of the country, are as follows: –

 Terms Requires The Candidate Somaliland House of Representatives

First, various civil servants and members of the armed forces who want to run for the House of Representatives and local councils must resign 90 days before election day.

Citizenship Birth Certificate

Voter Card As The Venue For The Contest.

Proof That He Is Not Less Than 35 Years Old.

A Medical Certificate Stating That He Is Physically And Mentally Fit To Perform His Duties

High School Diploma

A letter Of Innocence

Certificate Of Resignation If A Member Of The Various Civil Service Or National Army.

Proof that He Paid 40 Million Somaliland Shillings, a non-refundable deposit, to the Inland Revenue Office of the Ministry of Finance.

Has Signed The Code Of Conduct And Elections

He must submit an application to run for office and prove that he or she meets the requirements of the Law.

Candidates running for the House of Representatives or local councils have the right to withdraw, but must submit an official letter to their party and the National Electoral Commission at least 40 days before the election date.

Terms Required Council Candidate In Somaliland

District Candidates

Grade A, candidates for grade B and C have proof of three Years looga required.

Proof that the taxpayer is from the district in which he or she is running

Model or living property, which he owns in the district in which he is running

He must provide a receipt for the payment of fifteen million Somaliland Shillings.

Districts A grade 7, 7-million, grade B and C 4-million.

Certificate of resignation if a member of the various civil service or national army.

A medical certificate stating that he is physically and mentally fit to perform his duties
