African Union Welcomes Return To Somalia Electoral Process.

Mogadishu – (QN24) – The African Union (AU) Commission Has Commended The Recent Decision By The Somali Parliament To Withdraw From The September 17, 2020 Election Agreement.

The Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, said he welcomed the decision by the Somali Parliament’s House of Representatives to reinstate the September 17, 2020 Agreement, which was the basis for the upcoming elections, following a request from President Farmajo.

The Chairman of the Committee commended President Farmajo for advancing the interests of the People of Somalia.

The Speaker also welcomed the leadership role assigned to the Prime Minister in preparing for peaceful, credible and transparent elections and ensuring their Security.

Moussa Faki reiterated his call for an immediate return to dialogue and negotiation. He said the African Union is committed to supporting the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in this process.
