Mogadishu – (QN24) – A Military Convoy Reached Central Somalia On Thursday For The First Time In Eight Years.
At Least A Dozen Heavy Vehicles, Including Armoured Cars, Were Dispatched From Mogadishu For The Army’s 21st Division.
The SNA Said That The 21st Division Was Battling Al-Shabab Without Any Heavy Equipment, Except For A Handful Of Anti-Aircraft Guns Which Were Flown In.
The Military Convoy Was Sent To Guriceel A Week Ago And Has Already Entered The Galgudud Area To Partake In The Offensive Against Al-Shabab.
The SNA Also Announced On Thursday That It Conducted An Operation In Galgadud’s Sino-Dhaqa Area, Killing At Least Ten Al Shabab Fighters.
The Commander Of The Somali Armed Forces, General Odawa Yusuf Rageh, Stated That The Operation Was Carried Out After Receiving Valuable Intelligence About The Where Abouts Of Al-Shabab Militants.
The Last Time A Military Convoy Travelled To Central Somalia was in 2014, Highlighting the dominance and influence Al-Shabab exerted in the Area.
The Al-Qaeda-Linked Insurgent Group Has Been Fighting Somalia’s Internationally Backed Federal Government since for Over Two Decades.
