Hargeisa – (QN24) – The President Of Somaliland, His Excellency Muse Bihi Abdi, Said That It Is Necessary To Elect A New President And New Parties.
The President said that it is not Possible To Continue Without Elections, and he pointed out that the Law states that A President Should Be Elected Once Every 5 Years, although he was Recently Extended For 2 Years.
“If we don’t hold an Election in this Country and we don’t choose the Leaders, Or The Next President or the other Person Who is in the Election, it will not go on. The Constitution States that it must be renewed Every 5 Years,” Said President Bihi.
He said that he is sitting on the Election Committee to discuss the way to conduct the Election and the time to hold it.
He said that there is A Time when the Three Parties have Expired, and they Cannot Participate In Elections Until they are Re-Elected, And there Are 10 Organizations that are ready to Emerge As Official Parties.
The Presidential Election Was Postponed After A Prolonged Dispute Between The President And The Opposition Parties, Which Has Not Yet Been Fully Resolved.
